Description

Onychomycosis is a common fungal infection of the nails, often causing the nail to become thickened, discoloured, brittle or damaged.

Nd:YAG laser treatment uses targeted laser energy to treat the affected nail. It is a non-invasive treatment option that may help improve the appearance and condition of fungal nails. Multiple treatment sessions are usually recommended, depending on the number of nails affected and the severity of the infection. Evidence suggests that results can vary, and laser treatment may be used alongside other antifungal treatments where appropriate.

Treatment is generally well tolerated, although some warmth or discomfort may be experienced during the procedure.

A consultation is recommended to assess the nails and determine the most suitable treatment plan.

Aftercare

Nails grow slowly, so any change in the nail becomes visible gradually as it grows out. Follow any antifungal advice given at your consultation, and keep to the treatment plan we agree together. If you have any concerns about a treated nail between sessions, contact the clinic and we will advise you.
