  • Bakuchiol 1.25% — a clinically proven retinol alternative that helps to smooth fine lines by supporting collagen and elastin production.
  • Brightening peptide precursors — lipid-soluble, so they penetrate easily, blocking the production of pigment for a more even complexion.
  • Centella asiatica — helps to stimulate collagen production, and soothes inflamed, sensitive skin.
  • Inka omega oil — rich in omegas 3, 6 and 9, it slips into gaps in the stratum corneum to restore the barrier and block moisture loss.
  • Krameria triandra root extract — a photo-stabiliser that helps keep the formula stable in light.

How to use

Use morning and evening, after cleansing. Patch test 24 hours before your first application.

  • Cleanse and pat the skin dry.
  • Massage 6 drops across the face, neck and décolletage.
  • Follow with a moisturiser, and sunscreen if you are using it in the morning.

FAQ

Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Medik8 offers it as the alternative for people who cannot use vitamin A, including pregnant and nursing mothers. For ethical reasons the formula has not been tested on pregnant women, and it contains no vitamin A or high levels of exfoliating acids. If you have any concerns, consult your doctor.
Is it as good as retinol?
A study in the British Journal of Dermatology found bakuchiol comparable to retinol in anti-ageing effects, and better tolerated. It is the alternative for people who cannot use vitamin A.
Can I use it in the morning?
Yes. Bakuchiol is photostable, so it works morning and evening. Always wear sunscreen during the day.
Will it irritate sensitive skin?
It is designed to be soothing — centella asiatica helps to visibly calm redness and inflammation.
Do I still need vitamin A?
If your skin tolerates it, vitamin A remains Medik8's first choice. Bakuchiol Peptides is there to complete a routine when vitamin A is not an option.

The retinol alternative.

A retinol alternative for people who cannot use vitamin A — during pregnancy or nursing, with a sensitivity to vitamin A, or with very reactive skin. Bakuchiol has no structural resemblance to retinoids, but a study in the British Journal of Dermatology found it comparable to retinol in anti-ageing effects, and better tolerated.

Alongside it sit brightening peptide precursors, centella asiatica to calm, and inka omega oil to rebuild the barrier. Bakuchiol is photostable, so the serum can be used morning and night — it comes in UV-protected glass, with krameria triandra root extract in the formula for long-term stability.
